INTERNAL CONFLICT, UNHAPPINESS AND THE ABSENCE OF PEACE

I have been on a personal quest for inner peace since I started this website.  Since MouthGarble’s inception, I have been on a search for happiness and inner peace.  Hence the subtitle of my page’s name, “Inspire, Motivate, & Heal.”  As I explore myself and publish articles, I find myself inching closer and closer to my own inner balance.  It’s not always happiness, but it’s a balance and a loss of self hatred.  This entry is a big contributor to unhappiness in oneself.

We might not realize it, but we all have values and, within those values, we have core values.  Core values are values that are the most precious to us personally.  Core values are values that we hold such high esteem for that we would never let them go, even after much evaluation.  How do our values relate to unhappiness and inner turmoil?  I’m glad you asked.  When our actions are in direct conflict with our values it creates inner turmoil.  The inner turmoil is only increased when our actions are in conflict with our core values.  For example, one of my core values is, we should treat all people with dignity and respect.  Conflict arises in me when I do not act according to this value when I do not treat someone according to this value.

It is necessary, that when we have inner conflict, that we take the time to be introspective.  Examining oneself is not an easy task because you might not like what you find, but it is necessary when trying to be your best self.  When an event occurs and causes you to have inner turmoil, it is a clue to go through the process of self reflection.  Often, you will discover that you behaved in a way that was contrary to one of your values.  At least, I have found this to be true for me.

As we continue to reflect on events and our actions that cause inner turmoil, unhappiness, and the lack of peace we, will begin to live by our values.  When we live according to our values, we will find that we have an increase in moments of peace and happiness.  I challenge us all to find the courage to become self reflective and discover who we truly are.  It might be scary at first, but with practice it will become a habit and we will find that our actions will begin to reflect our values.  The reward will be immeasurable.  We will have peace and create bonds with those that we cherish and love.
