Life & Death
Recently I experienced the death of a loved one. I am not new to this experience, which is not something that I am going to get into today, but I will later on. Today I want to touch on life, death, and purpose.
I do not claim that all the ideas that I express are my own creation because I consume a lot of media, whether it is books, news, YouTube, magazines etc. So, I believe that a lot of what I think about and discuss is a compilation of bits and pieces that I like and makes sense to me. With that being said, how do we make our life and death worth it? The answer to me is finding a purpose to life.
What got me thinking about purpose today? Well, like I mentioned, I recently experienced the loss of a loved one. When I mourn I like to be alone. Today, in order to be alone I went for an extended run after working out. When I run I like to listen to talk radio and today while I ran I listened to Armstrong and Getty. One of the topics that they discussed was having a purpose. They discussed how humans need purpose or we will lose our will to strive, thrive and achieve. Without purpose we enter depression and lose our will to work hard and live. To me, this means that we need to find our purpose for life. What do I live for? What motivates me to get out of bed each day? To go to the gym? Go to work? Work hard? Care for my family? Produce YouTube videos? What is keeping me from getting overrun by depression after a death in the family?
These questions that I asked are different for each of us, but there is on that applies to us all, what is my purpose? It will be different for all of us, or at least a different variation, but we must have a purpose that motivates us and makes us excited each day to be alive and make our marks on society. Hopefully, we all chose positive purposes, but that is up to each of us.
Life and purpose leads me to death. Is death the end of us? I hope that death is not the end and I hope that you not believe that death is the end. Even though I believe in life after death, immortality does not have to mean that you believe in an afterlife. Immortality could also mean that you live on after death in your purpose that you chose to pursue. For example, your purpose could have been to write and so you live on in your writing as people consume your work through the years. Maybe you kept a journal and the journal is passed down from generation to generation.
So, please find a purpose and enthusiastically pursue it because you can and will live on after death. Make your mark and put an exclamation after it! Talk to you all later. Take it easy!
